SDM Law College, Mangalore, celebrated the birthday of Dr. D. Veerendra Heggade, President of the SDM Educational Society, on November 25. The celebration featured service-oriented activities inspired by Dr. Heggade’s four noble dānas – Abhayadana, Vidyadana, Aushadadana, and Annadana. As part of the programme, the Student Executive Committee, accompanied by Student Welfare Officer Dr. Reshma, visited the Government Higher Primary School, Mallikatte, where they engaged the children in interactive games. Stationery kits, sweets, and chocolates were distributed, and meals were served, reflecting the spirit of service and compassion. Later, the office bearers visited Govanitaashraya Trust (R), Pajiru Goshala, a shelter housing more than 416 rescued cows, and made a small contribution in support of animal care and welfare.
The NSS Unit of the college organised a one-day service camp at Sri Anantha Padmanabha Temple, Kudupu, where student volunteers actively participated in temple service activities. The collective efforts of the students and staff reflected the values of community service and social responsibility inspired by Dr. Heggade’s leadership.
