Equal Opportunity Cell

Equal Opportunity Cell of our institution oversees and also ensures equity and equal opportunity to every stakeholder of our college including the disadvantageous groups like SC, ST, OBC (non-creamy layer), minorities, women and physically challenged students and staff .
India is a country of diversity. It is a hub of diff erent religions, castes and cultures. However, the Indian society is characterized by a highly entrenched system of social stratifi cation. It is these social inequalities that created the barriers of denial of access to materials, cultural and educational resources to the disadvantaged groups of society. These disadvantaged groups are SCs, STs, women, OBC (non-creamy layer), minorities and physically challenged persons. It is clear from the demographic factors that a large section of population of our country is still disadvantaged and marginalized. Emphasis to the deprived groups for learning and creating space for them to mainstream themselves will be the main focus of Equal Opportunity Cell in order to enhance the employability and success. Since higher education is a tool for social and economic equality, the UGC has been addressing national concerns of access, equality, while ensuring the standard of quality and relevance of education by implementing policies of the Government of India and promoting several schemes and programmes for the disadvantaged groups that would help in eliminating social disparities. India is potentially rich in human resources. To harvest the same and make the present education system inclusive, the degree of democratization of higher education has to be increased to a large extent. Further to be more responsive to the needs and constraints of the disadvantaged social groups. Students from diff erent socioeconomic backgrounds and with a variety of cultural diversity opted to get quality legal education in our institution . To ensure equity and equal opportunity to every stakeholder of this institution, the Equal Opportunity Cell was established in 2015 at our institution. Any stakeholder of this institution may approach this Cell if he or she feels any denial of equity and equal opportunity in the campus. He or she can submit a written complaint to Dr. Reshma ,Convenor of this Cell or mail to reshma@sdmlc.ac.in.
The main aim of the Equal Opportunity Cell is to ensure that students and faculty of our Institution belonging to various diverse backgrounds of community, religion, region, gender or ability are not deprived of their basic opportunities and must have access to all the basic rights to promote inclusivity and harmony. Activities are organised to promote policies, practices and to look into the grievances to ensure equality and equal opportunities to the disadvantaged group on campus through proper implementation of policies, skills, and programs for the same. The Cell headed by the Principal, staff and student members chalk out action plans to ensure the functionalities of an inclusive educational atmosphere in the campus.
