Orientation Programme on Internship, Placement & Higher Education at SDMLC

SDM Law College, Mangaluru, organised an Orientation Programme on “Internship, Placement & Higher Education” on September 20, 2025. The programme was conducted by the Training and Placement Cell of the college. The first session was led by Mr. Varun Vinayan, Associate Vice President, Casagrand Premier Buildings Ltd., and a proud alumnus of SDMLC, who inaugurated the programme and delivered an insightful talk on career opportunities and growth in the corporate sector. The second session was conducted by Ms. Shamshad Begum, Team Lead, Edroots International, who guided students on opportunities for higher education abroad.

The programme was presided over by Dr. Tharanatha, Principal of the college. Ms. Sharika Rai, Faculty Convenor of the Training and Placement Cell, Ms. Jyothika Praveen, Student Secretary, along with the student coordinators, were also present.

SDM Law College, Mangalore, organized a workshop on “Memorial Drafting” on September 24, 2025, under the initiative of the Moot Court Society. The resource person, Mr. Naveen Ponnaiah, Advocate, Mysuru, delivered a detailed session on the essentials of memorial drafting, emphasizing research, structured preparation, and effective argumentation.

Annual Sports Meet at SDM Law College

The Annual Sports Meet of SDM Law College (SDMLC), Mangalore, was held on September 26, 2025, at Mangala Stadium, Mangaluru. The event was inaugurated by the chief guest, Ms. Sheethal Mendon, Legal Advisor at Mukund MGM and Vertex Workspaces, Mangaluru, and an esteemed alumna of SDMLC. In her inaugural address, she highlighted the significance of sports in shaping an individual’s personality and overall development. Dr. Tharanatha, Principal of SDMLC, presided over the programme. The meet began with an impressive march-past by students of all classes, followed by a series of athletic events.

M., Head of the Department of Pre-Law, and Mr. Shashiprasad, Director of Physical Education, along with faculty members and students. SDM Law College Signs MoU with Edroots International

In a significant step towards fostering cooperation and collaboration, S.D.M. Law College, Mangaluru, entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Edroots International, Kerala, on 22nd September 2025. The MoU was formally signed by Mrs. Shamshad Begaum, Team Lead of Edroots International, and Dr. Tharanatha, Principal of S.D.M. Law College. The occasion was witnessed by Dr. Suma Suresh Kogilgeri, Assistant Professor, S.D.M. Law College, and Mr. Sheldon Fernandes, Business Development Executive, Edroots International.

As per the agreement, the collaboration will facilitate the conduct of seminars, workshops, and training sessions tailored to the requirements of the College. The partnership will also provide overseas education assistance on various subjects, organize mock tests and training sessions for IELTS and other language proficiency examinations, and offer comprehensive capacity-building and awareness programmes to support students in pursuing higher education abroad.

Dr. Shashikala Gurpur, Director of Symbiosis Law School, Pune, served as the resource person. In her insightful address, she underscored research as the key differentiator in higher education, connecting it to global concerns such as Sustainable Development Goals, transnational crimes, human trafficking, energy crises, and the right to be forgotten. She further emphasized the need for original, socially relevant, and interdisciplinary research while highlighting the role of empathy, critical thinking, and future-ready pedagogy. The NSS unit of the college organized a one-day camp at Shri Subraya Temple, Neerumarga, on 18th September 2025. A total of 120 volunteers actively participated in the programme.
