The Cultural Committee of SDM Law College, Mangalore organised ‘Freshers Day’ for the first year students today (August 30) at the college. Various events like Balloon Burst Game, Treasure Hunt, Spot Dance, Talent Show, Mr. & Ms. Freshers were organised. Nishta Bojamma of first year BA.LL.B. emerged as Ms. Fresher. Anuroop of first year emerged as Mr. Fresher. Rakshith B. V., Faculty Convenor of Cultural Committee, Dr. Reshma., Student Welfare Officer., Mr. Ashwin., Assistant Professor., Anjaly S. K., Student Secretary of Cultural Committee along with members of Student Executive Council coordinated the programme.
Student’s Executive Council Inauguration of SDM Law College Centre for Post-graduate Studies and Research in Law was held on 30 August 2025
Sri. Basavaraj., Honourable Principal District and Sessions Judge, Mangalore was the inaugurator of the ceremony. In his address, he embarked on the importance of taking up leadership responsibilities that will help in the overall personality development of a student. He further emphasised that by being a part of the executive council one can enhance their leadership abilities, develop teamwork skills, improve public speaking, and gain experience in event management.
Dr. Tharanatha., Principal of the college, in his presidential address explained the roles and responsibilities of the council members.
The oath to the Student Council members was administered by Dr. Balika., Vice Principal of the college. It was followed with distribution of badges to the student secretaries of various cells and committees.
Dr. Santhosh Prabhu., HOD of Law., Mr. Amith S. M., HOD of Pre- Law., Dr. Chandralekha V., IQAC Coordinator were present on this occasion.
Dr. Reshma., Student Welfare Officer welcomed the gathering and gave an overview on the Cells and Committees of the college. Narasimha S. Bhandary., Chief Secretary of the Student Executive Council proposed the vote of thanks.
The Local Inspection Committee (LIC) from Karnataka State Law University, Hubballi visited SDM Law College here on August 23rd, 2025 for the inspection of the Post-graduate Studies & Research Centre.
The committee comprising Prof. Dr. Devidas G. Maley., Head of Department., Department of Law, Gulbarga University, Gulbarga., Dr. Rangaswamy D., Assistant Professor., KSLUs Law School, Hubballi., Dr. Arun S., Principal., SJRC Law College, Bangalore appreciated the functional aspect of the college.
Shri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara Law College Centre for Post-graduate Studies and Research in Law, Mangalore organised an Orientation program for new entrants on 23rd August, 2025.
The program aimed to provide clear insight of a new academic environment, fostering a sense of belonging and empowerment right from the start. P. Ranjan Rao., Senior Advocate., Mangalore Bar Association was the chief guest. “Focus is the key source of success. Students must cultivate focus. Focusing on what you are doing at the moment is important. A person who is focused on a goal reaches the goal more than the one who is more talented with no focus.” he said. He insisted the students keep updating themselves with evolving laws as law is not certain and keeps changing with the needs of the society.

Dr. Santhosha Kumara A., HOD of Law introduced the University rules and regulations to the new entrants and also provided information regarding the academic structure, programs, courses, and curriculum. Students were made aware about support services available, including counselling, library resources, and extracurricular activities. They were made familiar with the institution’s code of conduct, policies, and procedures.
Amith S. M., HOD of Pre- Law, briefed the students regarding the importance of various committees and cells.
Dr. Ravindra Rajput., Assistant Professor in Law informed about the Anti- Ragging and Anti- Drug Cell and the consequences of ragging. He also emphasised on the anti-drug movement.
Dr. Chandralekha V., IQAC Coordinator, welcomed the gathering. Dr. Reshma., Student Welfare Officer rendered the vote of thanks.

Reshel Bretny Fernandes student of 3rd Year LL.B. of SDM Law College, Mangalore was awarded with Bharat Shree National Award 2025 at a National Conference and Summit organised in association with Bharath Grow Foundation and Niti Ayog held at Indore, Madhya Pradesh on 17th August, 2025.
The award was presented by Lt. General BS Sisodiya, Air Marshal Shashidhar Chaudhary and Padmashree Awardee Satyendra Lohia along with other eminent dignitaries. She was recognised for her remarkable contribution to literature. Her creative works and accomplishments, achieved at a young age, have earned her recognition at the national level, inspiring peers and young aspirants in the literary domain.

The Seminar/Conference/Law Finishing School Committee of the college organized a guest lecture on “Civil Litigation Process and Procedures” on 25th August 2025.
Mr. Prithviraj, Advocate and a distinguished member of the Mangalore Bar Association, served as the resource person. He delivered an insightful session on the procedural aspects of civil litigation and emphasized the importance of understanding each stage of civil cases, thereby providing students with practical exposure beyond classroom learning.
