National Service Scheme (NSS)

The National Service Scheme is a scheme of Government of India, Ministry of youth affairs and sports. It was launched in Gandhi’s centenary year 1969. It provides opportunities for students to serve the nation through community service activities and programs. It helps students to extend their exposure to life outside educational institution.It nurtures the students to build their personality and leadership qualities inter alia creating sensitivity to public welfare and public service.

Since it’s inception the NSS unit of our college through it’s community oriented activities is striving to uphold its moto ” NOT ME BUT YOU” .The various activities conducted but the unit are celebration of birth and death anniversary of freedom fighters. National festivals like independence day, republic day. Vanamahotsava day to sensitize on environment. Health awareness programmes and blood donation camps are conducted.One day camps are conducted regularly and seven days annual camp is also conducted.The student volunteers are given a certificate by the university ,at the end of the year, for their active participation

Aims and objectives
The motto of NSS is “NOT ME BUT YOU”. It reflects the idea of democratic living and upholds the need for self-less service. Its objective is to make students responsible citizen and to develop their overall personality. Through various activities it tries to create a sense of social responsibility in them. It provides opportunities to the students for group living, collective experience sharing and constant interaction with community. On the whole the NSS volunteers shall strive for the wellbeing of the society.

Recent activities during the academic year 2018-2019
At its first meeting students leaders were selected. After that inauguration of NSS unit for academic year 2018-2019 was organised. Subsequently an orientation programme was also organised. Further various programmes like vanamahotsava day, world Alzheimer’s month, one week yoga training, one day workshop on women empowerment and blood donation camp was successfully organised.
